What are electronic books?
If you read fan fiction on the Internet, you're already reading electronic books! Electronic books are digital versions of books that are designed to be read on a desktop or
laptop computer, handheld computers like the Pocket PC devices, on hand-held personal digital assistant (PDA) devices such as the palmOne PDAs, the old Handspring Visors, Treo Smartphones and Franklin's
e-bookMan , as well as on dedicated e-book reading devices such as the original Rocket eBook.
We currently offer e-books in five different formats: Adobe Reader, Palm PDB, Microsoft Reader, HTML, and Rocket Edition. Our PDF e-books may be read on your desktop/laptop computer using the free Adobe
Reader software from Adobe. If you surf the internet, you most likely already have the software installed as a plug-in of your web browser. You may also use Adobe Reader to print your e-book.
The price of our e-books is the same, regardless of which format you select. To read our e-books in the Palm PDB format, you will need document reader software installed on your
handheld. There are many free e-book reading programs out there. Three we can recommend are MobiPocket Reader, CSpotRun and Palm Reader --
both are full-featured readers that allow you to change fonts, font sizes and screen orientation..© 2000-2002, ArtemisPress: a division of SRS Internet Publishing #06610736
What is the PDF file format?
"PDF" stands for Portable Document Format and was developed by the Adobe software company. It is the generally accepted format for electronic publishing documents of all
types. It will run on almost any computer system (MAC and PC) if the company's free software, Adobe Reader, is
installed. It is an ideal format for presenting graphically rich and formatted publications. These formats use real typefaces and look like real books..
How do I purchase and download an electronic book?
Once you have selected an e-book to purchase, simply click on the "Add to Cart" button that corresponds to your desired format. You may add as many electronic books to your
shopping cart as you wish. When you are finished shopping, click on the "Check Out" button to proceed to our secured order form. Once your purchase has been approved, your e-book
will be sent to your email address as a file attachment in a compressed ZIP format. You will need to use an "unzipping" program, such as WinZip (PC) or StuffIt Expander (MAC) to open the file.
How do I read my newly downloaded electronic book?
The program you use to read your book file will depend on the file format you chose when purchasing. To read your e-book on your PDA, you first should have a DOC reader application
(such as MobiPocket Reader, CSpotRun or Palm Reader) installed on your handheld. Simply download the title into your handheld's desktop software and use the hotsync function to transfer it to
the device itself. Our Rocket Editions are meant to be read on the original NuvoMedia Rocket e-book by loading the .rb file into your Rocket Librarian software, then transferring it to your Rocket
e-book device. You can read our HTML editions offline with your favorite web browser or you can print them out.
What if I have a problem opening my e-book?
The file will automatically be downloaded into your email program's "attachments" or "downloads" folder. If you experience any difficulties, or require additional help, our support
staff is just an email away!
Can I purchase new and regular titles at a discount price?
Yes! By joining the ArtemisPress e-book Club, you'll receive 10 percent discounts on all downloads.
Do I have to receive my e-book as an email attachment?
We can send any of our electronic books to you on a floppy disk through the regular mail for an additional fee. Books on floppy disk are delivered in whichever format you request --
PDF, Palm PDB, Rocket Edition or HTML.
