ArtemisPress is an internet-based, non-subsidy, royalty-paying women's press dedicated to making available works of fiction and nonfiction that will be of interest to
women of all backgrounds, sexual orientations and ethnicities. We are especially interested in publishing feminist literature and lesbian fiction and nonfiction, but will consider all women-centered
literature featuring strong, dynamic women characters.
Our publishing submissions policies will explain exactly what books we are interested in publishing. Before responding to our open submissions call, however, authors should review our manuscript guidelines. We are not interested in whether you have been published previously. What does interest us, is whether you exhibit a passion and talent for
storytelling, whether you are writing about something that inspires you and whether you possess strong writing abilities.

If you have written a book that the print publishers have turned down, we want to read it! If you have written a book that was previously published by a print publisher but is now
"out-of-print", we want to read it! We will consider all works that 1.) have never before been published electronically (nor posted to a website or newsgroup; and 2.) to which you own the
rights.
We believe writers should be free to create stories that move them, stories that represent the power of their imaginations - not stories that fit into predictable, mainstream formulas of
what may be commercially popular at any given time. If the quality and mechanics of your writing are strong - and you are able to infuse your creation with passion - we are confident readers will enjoy
your work.
Our philosophy is great books are brought to the public by a mutually respectful and beneficial partnership between writer and publisher. For this reason, we do require that our
authors actively join us in the marketing efforts for their books. Writing the book is only half the task for a successful author -- she must also know how to get people to purchase it. If we
decide to review your manuscript for possible publication, we may also request you submit an informal marketing plan.
ArtemisPress pays its writers a royalty of 30 percent of the U.S. retail download price -- one of the highest royalty rates available -- on all sales of their ebook generated from our
artemispress.com website. On outside sales made through online distributors, bookstores and other organizations, authors are compensated at 30 percent of the download price received from the outside
vendor (after it has deducted its fees). We pay a royalty of 15 percent on sales of paperback editions.
